Objective: To install the Current Chain.
Equipment Needed:
- Quick link tool
- Chain breaker
Power Off the Bike
With the assist on "OFF", carefully pedal the bike and shift the rear derailleur to the highest gear or the smallest cog.
- Press and hold the power button to turn off the bike.
- tilt back the derailleur cage and engage the lock button to relieve the chain tension.
Remove the Chain
Use a master link tool to disconnect the quick link on the chain. Remove the two ends of the quick link.
Remove the chain
Swap the Chain and Quick Link
Install the Chain
- Feed the new chain of the same length onto the derailleur and around the cassette and chainring. Be sure to go through the chain guide as well.
- Install the new quick link halves on the ends of the chain and press them together. The arrow on the quick link should be pointing in the direction that the chain will move when pedaling the bike. Use the master link tool to fully engage the quick link.
- Slightly rock the derailleur cage forward to allow the locking button to disengage. Slowly release the cage to re-tension the chain.
Power the Bike On
- With the bike upright, press and hold the power button to turn on the bike.
- Pedal the bike with the PAS off and shift through the gears to ensure proper operation.
