Current EXP Rear Derailleur Power Adapter Install

Objective:

To install the Current Derailleur Power Adapter Harness.

Equipment Needed:

  1. 2.5mm hex wrench
  2. 3mm hex wrench
  3. 5mm hex wrench
  4. 6mm hex wrench
  5. Torque wrench

 

  1. Power On the Display
    1. Press and hold the power button to power on the bike.

    2. With the pedal assist "OFF", carefully pedal the bike and shift to the highest gear or smallest cog.

    3. Press and hold the power button to power off the bike.

    4. Tilt back the derailleur cage and engage the lock button to relieve the chain tension.

       

  2. Remove the Rear Wheel
    1. Use a 6mm hex wrench to loosen and remove the rear thru axle. Remove the rear wheel from the bike.

         

  3. Open the Motor Cover
    1. Use a 3mm hex wrench to remove the center lower motor cover bolt. Tilt the lower motor cover open.

       

  4. Remove the Mid Drive Motor
    1. Use a 5mm hex wrench to loosen and remove 4 of the motor mounting bolts, excluding the two rear most bolts. Turn the chainring to access the center driveside bolt.

    2. Use a 2.5mm hex wrench to remove the inner chainstay cable tab and bolt on the driveside.

  5. Remove the Derailleur Power Adapter

     

    1. Turn the terminal plug lock clockwise and unplug the power cable from the battery.

    2. Tilt up the mid drive motor and unplug the mid cable connection that attaches to the rear derailleur power harness to the mid drive motor cable.

    3. Guide the dereailleur power harness out of the back of the bike, as shown.

         

    4. Open the battery latch on the SRAM derailleur and remove the adapter. Then, remove the adapter harness assembly from the bike. 

  6. Swap the SRAM Derailleur Power Adapter

     

  7. Install the external wiring harness for the transmission

     

    1. Insert the new harness end through the derailleur mount as shown, and then insert the battery adapter. Secure it in place with the latch.

       

    2. Feed the cable harness into the hole in the chainstay and guide it forward towards the motor compartment.

         

    3. Reconnect the adapter harness to the mid drive motor cable by pressing the two connections together.

       

  8. Install the Mid Drive Motor & Reconnect the Battery
    1. Carefully guide the cables into the center of the motor compartment and guide the mid drive motor back into place. Visually align the holes and use a 5mm hex wrench and reinstall the 4 motor mounting bolts that were removed earlier. Torque them to 25Nm

       

    2. Plug the terminal cable back into the battery port and then lock it in place by turning the terminal lock counterclockwise.

         

    3. Close the lower motor cover and reinstall the single center bolt using a 3mm hex wrench.

       

    4. Capture the harness next to the brake hose and replace the inner chainstay cable tab using a 2.5mm hex wrench.

       

  9. Install the Rear Wheel
    1. Replace the rear wheel into the frame dropouts. Ensure the rotor goes in between the brake pads and the cassette captures the chain on the smallest cog.

    2. Apply grease to the threads of the rear thru axle and then reinstall the axle to capture the wheel. Tighten the rear thru axle using a 6mm hex wrench. Torque to 10-16Nm.

    3. Rock the derailleur cage forward until the lock button disengages and then slowly release the cage to retension the chain.

       

  10. Test the Shifting Performance
    1. Press and hold the power button to power on the bike.

         

    2. With the pedal assist "OFF" pedal the bike and test the shifting performance.
